World Book Day and the 380th anniversary of the Lower Ruse Latin School (1645–1760), the first educational institution of its kind in Lower Styria, will be celebrated at the highest level – as an expression of mission and vocation.
On this occasion, we present the publication of the book Gnothi seauton (2023) by Milan Robič, which, with a popular science research in the field of philosophy of knowledge management and leadership, brings the light of virtue ethics after a two-year delay and offers the interested public an opportunity to transform leadership in the 21st century.
Ruse, historically known as Little Belgrade, carries a rich intellectual and cultural heritage. The book and pen in the municipal coat of arms symbolize wisdom, cosmopolitanism, broad-mindedness, scholarship and virtue ethics. ARS PHARMACEUTICA MINAŘIK FEST is a festival of panoramic rides on a custom-made tourist train. The festival revives the past, while at the same time opening a view into the future of Minařik’s birthplace through the film, cultural, digital, literary and photographic endowment I LOVE Natura 2020. On this occasion, we fulfilled our obligation to our honorable fellow citizen in a socially responsible way, in cooperation with the Maribor Photo Club and the Janko Glazer Elementary School, where a photographic exhibit of Minařik’s Silk Rapids in dimensions of 6m x 1.4m, donated by the Ecom Ruše company, is sustainably exhibited in the lobby of the new gym.
The event is intended for 195,000 students and 115,000 people with various forms of disability who want to get to know the natural beauty, cultural heritage and cosmopolitan character of the place through their passion for sports.

Hunting for hidden treasure addresses sports passion, natural beauties and cultural heritage of 400 million years old essence of the waterstream Lobnica, a humming pearl of the Pohorje mountainside, on the bank of which stood administrative building of the glass factory Novi Benediktov dol, where was born the pharmacist professor Franc Minařik on the 9 June 1887.
The destination of 400 million years old watercourse is ecological story, which was uncovered by the Maribor regional unit of the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for nature conservation in its book titled Lobnica, a humming pearl of the Pohorje mountainside – a trip through geological history in 2006.

- We start by gathering in the Guesthouse Ribič, Šarhova path 4, Ruše. After welcome greetings follows guided visit of permanent photographic exhibitions titled Amazing virgin forest Šumik and Enchanted Pohorje Sleeping Beauty. Decorative collections of bigger dimensions are placed on the indoor wall of the guesthouse.
- The central part of field excursion is dedicated to raising awareness of colossal natural beauty of 57 hectares big natural reserve Šumik, where spread 19 hectares of the virgin forest Šumik. The focus is on the case study of a rare phenomenon of golden rapids in the Lobnica valley, as well as sightseeing of remnants of cultural heritega of the birthplace of the pharmacist professor Franc Minařik and poet Janko Glazer. Our field journey is circular. Nearby western roundabout Lobniška riža we enter a colossal valley along triple railway viaduct. We travel at most 5km, then we turn to a forest parking lot in the vicinity of remnants of the Globokar’s sawmill, where we get information about golden rapids, which appear only on the occasion of heavy rain and other spacial physical conditions. Light has supernatural power on the stone of wisdom, while the atmosphere of green luxury brings colourful therapeutical impact.
- While returning to the town of Ruše we cross the Lobnica creek and visit the birthplace of the pharmacist professor Franc Minařik (9 June 1887 – 9 June 1972) and poet Janko Glazer (21 March 1893 – 2 February 1975). Optionally you can sightsee the old centre of the town in the central park or say goodbye at the roundabout Ruška vrata.

A demanding mountain path is protected by a wire rope and is not suitable for people with various disabilities. So, it is even more marvellous to get acquainted with a location of the virgin forest entrance, at the edge of fantastic golden rapids.
